My Style: Sneak Peek - Layering

I'm over at Katalina Girl today sharing a few snaps on how this working girl layers during these cold winter months! These shots makes me wish we could have the tree up year round...

My Style: Excursion Quilted Vest

 Inspired by this post last week, I  took my own advice when curating this look. I picked up these tights last week and they have polka dots on them. Swoon. Busy week ahead, this Wednesday is the first Des Moines Fashion and Beauty Blogger event Katelyn and I have spent weeks planning! I can't wait to get together with all of the Des Moines area fashion bloggers, it's about time!

One Piece Three Ways: Excursion Quilted Vest

A 'quick trip' to J.Crew is a joke. I always spend more time then necessary purusing every rack, feeling the lush fabrics, spying the price tags and wishing them to be less. Last night's stroll left me wanting this, this, and oh yes, these too. The one thing I know I can always walk out with is inspiration. I found many mannequins sporting this Excursion Quilted Vest, which I picked up a month or so ago on sale for 25% off {a steal as they are now back to full price}. The best part about the looks I put together above, is I have similar pieces in my own closet. And while, I would love a closest full of J.Crew, it's great to exercise a bit of remixing with your own wardrobe more often than not.

{taught myself how to make a gif - obsessed!}

menswear: layering

layering

Most men I know have two types of shirts that take up the most closet space. T-shirts & button-ups.  If you are looking to shake things up a bit with your wardrobe, whether it be to work or for a night out, sweaters are a great option. Layering may not be for every man, but when done right, creates a classic, put-together look.  Start with a sweater, something in the same color palette (see here) or stick with something neutral.  Make sure the material is breathable and something you can move in, as layering often brings on the heat.  If you are feeling risky, move a bit further out of your comfort zone with leather boots and a blazer to complete your look!
