The Brunette One Gets Married: Receiving Lines

This week I'm discussing receiving lines over at Grey Likes Weddings. I've informally polled family members in attendance at my brother's wedding, our Priest, as well as discussed in depth with Cody. We, along with our bridal party and photographer, will be taking a trolly around to snap informal photos in-between the ceremony & reception. That leaves a gap in between events which will be offset by offering a cocktail hour for the guests.

So, do we have a formal receiving line at the church? Excuse guests from the pews? Visit every table at the reception? Or take note of these creative informal receiving line ideas {thank goodness for Pinterest}? Check out the full post over here!

The Brunette One Gets Married: The Lab Event

About a month ago I followed The Lab Event's soiree on Instagram. Inspiration overload when it comes to reception decor and the most gorgeous bridal gowns by Sarah Seven. Man, what I would have done to be there. So I took to Pinterest to track down photographs from last year's event. I was drawn to this particular romantically pink vignette, which I can guarantee has stemmed a few DIY ideas will be surely be making it to my reception!

I wrote this post for DSMBride, but in case you aren't in the local Des Moines area, I wanted to share it with my lovely readers!

I would say about a day or two after I said, "Yes," I started contemplating what I would be wearing for all of the upcoming bridal events I would soon be attending. Let's be real, I am a lover of all things white and fashion-y. And while I haven't found THE dress yet for my upcoming May 2014 wedding, that hasn't stopped me from browsing many other LWD for the bridal showerbachelorette partyrehearsal dinner, and honeymoon. You can bet I will milk this engagement period for all it's worth when it comes to my wardrobe.

What type of outfits did you wear, or are you dreaming of wearing for all of your wedding events?

The Brunette One Gets Married: Initial Planning

So I'm obviously new to this wedding planning business. I attended my first bridal show last weekend with two of my girlfriends and frankly was quite overwhelmed, though we did not leave with empty stomaches - I had my fair share of wedding cake! I have this idea in my head of what our wedding will be{and a fiancĂ© who trusts my judgement} and now it's a matter of making it come to life. We will attend another bridal show this weekend and hopefully finalize the size of wedding we wish to have, which will help us determine our available venues.

So now I ask for your sage advice with wedding planning - anything we need to know as we embark on this journey? What websites do you recommend using to create our own couple website?
